Tuesday's Top Ten PLUS Ten: Favorite Meals

Who doesn't love food? Only the insane and the liars..that's who! So this week is dedicated to BecKyle and my's favorite meals! Yum Yum! So try not to reach for the fridge, and check out BecKyle's list when you're done reading!

1. My mom can make a killer Mexican dinner. You would think she was one of those incredibly talented little old Hispanic ladies! Seriously, some pork chili, Spanish rice, homemade re-fried beans and extra cheesy enchilada are just the ticket for about any day of the week. Delicioso!

2. I love Chinese food (at least the American definition) basically as a whole. From Panda Express to Wonderful House it's got my mouth watering. Naturally, a fan such as myself, FANcies (yes pun intended) a plate full of; lo mein, sweet and sour chicken, and fried rice. Deal with it.

3. Traeger grills (or any smoker/grill) may be one of the best inventions ever. When my dad slaps on some bacon wrapped filet mignon and my mom makes the best caramelized sweet potatoes in Nebraska..I feel like I could die on the spot.

4. One of them most scarring moments of my life was working the meat grinder while helping my dad and a friend process a pig. I'm a very sensory person, and the texture was just not for me. I will spare you the adjectives :). But alas, good did come from the situation, because the best burgers in the entire universe were created that day. I'm talking garlic sausage goodness in-between a bun. Yes you heard me right..absolutely scrumptious.

5. Many of my last birthday celebrations, and favorite summer nights ended with a cookout. I love sitting around a fire, and how much more fun it always is with food involved! The average, burger-hot-dog-potato-salad- baked-beans- and-original-lays-chips cookout is ideal for me. Nothing is more fun than the near perfect atmosphere, surrounded by friends, fire and food.

6. I can just picture that Cici's Pizza commercial "How do you like it? How do you like it? more more moooore". Truth is, I love pizza.

7. Homemade chicken and noodles, over mashed potatoes has a rather imaginative nickname at our house. We like to call it "starch-a-palooza"..and yes it is amazing.

8.My mom goes all-out on Valentines day with a gourmet meal and mouth watering deserts. It definitely makes the cut. My favorite part of it is the manacotti and post de creme. Which reminds me..the holiday is coming up! Sweet! (quite literally :))

9. Born out of a cleanse I did this Fall, came my favorite way to eat breakfast. I fill a bowl with plain Greek yogurt, a sliced banana, some honey, and sometimes pecans or if the cupboard reveals; Honey Bunches of Oats. If we constantly had each ingredient around, I might eat it every day.

10. Finally, the most cliched, yet possibly one of my favorite...the sack lunch. I dearly enjoy packing the picnic basket with PB&J's, a banana or apple, package of fruit snacks, etc., and traveling to the backyard. I will never grow too old for a sack lunch.

Now you may bask in the truth of this..

"What is your favourite food?"
And to keep yourself from going on a food crawl, spend some more time reading BecKyle's list! (P.S. she is pregnant right now, so it could be quite the interesting read :) )

Tuesday's Top Ten PLUS Ten: Closet Favs

<a href="http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/13558467/?claim=8gdxh8zp8tb">Follow my blog with Bloglovin</a>

Happy Tuesday! This week, without seasonal theme, I will share my 10 most used and/or most loved closet residents. And after reading, hop on over to BecKyle's list as well!

1. My Cabela's Hoodies are soft and warm and amazing. I'm a cuddler and hoodies suit my personality well. I love them.

2. My tall chocolate brown faux-leather boots are another fave. They are scuffed beyond polishing (how sad) and I have begun the search for another pair that is worthy. They are a few shades darker than these.

I think I'm gonna get these. It shows my love of horse back riding in everyday wear.
3. Riding boots are my most common fall-winter attire (and spring when I can make it work :) ), and cheepy flip flops are my cup of tea for summer and spring! Most will understand that there is no logical explanation for the love we associate with crap-tastic, arch ruining, non-sticker protecting, flip flops..but nonetheless it remains. Maybe when I'm older I'll be wiser.
Flip Flop Storage and Cleaning *I used to always clean my flops. Love this girl's method!*
4. Next in line is my light blue bubble necklace. I've found it very seasonally versatile because of my closet's color scheme, so happily I get to wear it often!

5. The necklace reminds me of my favorite shirt to wear with it! My blue polka dotted button up is definitely my favorite of shirts. Comfy yet flattering, it's also easy to dress up or down.

6. I have an orange cardigan with an embezzlement that is perfect for most every fall outfit. Definitely one I'll keep.
(you can also spot my favorite boots in that pic!)
7. Which leads me to my next one...the hunter green scarf in pic above. It also fits most of my outfits in scarf-season :)

8. I have a red jean jacket (sounds a little tacky at first, I am aware) but I love the thing. It's got a fun flare shape, and adds a pop to any outfit needing a lift.

9. Can you tell yet that fall is my favorite season, especially in dress? Next up on the list is slouchy hats! Not so much beanies, but more ones like this...

10. Lastly, but certainly not least-ly :) come vintage heels!

The Problem With New Year Resolutions

Happy New Year! I love when it comes along! Celebrations and new starts all while in the midst of Christmas break; leaving you refreshed and motivated! But I have a bone to pick with 99% of New Years Resolutions.
Any of these look familiar? Of course they do! Everyone and their dog makes some sort of self-bettering new years resolution. Everyone also knows that most don't last. The reason they don't last? I think there are many possibilities for that-but there is a reason why I consider them negative.

There is one thing that all of the above resolutions, and the rest of the most popular ones have in common. Any idea what that is?... They are all for yourself. Every last one of those is something that will take focus, dedication, and constant practice to do. So if you plan to actually succeed at those goals, they will take all of that effort towards yourself.

Before I go on, I will clarify that I am not against doing any of the above resolutions. Being healthy, responsible, and intentional are all wonderful things! And there is always something you can and should be working on..but my point lies in the amount of your effort towards those things.

Instead of putting everything you are into that juice cleanse, or being at the gym every day..why not put that kind of practice and exertion on something more valuable. Instead of trying to perfect something that will perish, why not work towards something eternal?

So here is my New Years Resolution.
Know Christ and Make Him Known by artjective

And truly, that should be my life's mission. I want to focus on Jesus, and all that entails. Things such as reading through my Bible again, working harder on studying techniques, are included in the "Know Him" portion. But the "Make Him known" half of it can be everything from A-Z on imitating Jesus. Whether that will be smiling at that random person, or spreading the Gospel. So with that said-and now publicly committed to-I challenge you to do the same. Spend this year focusing on Jesus more than you focus on that diet. :) Happy New Year!
